The paraglider is similar to a parachute, because it also has a flexible structure and the user is suspended. Paragliding flight is a free flight mode that can be practiced for both recreation and competition. It is considered a radical sport.
 

While parachutist is passively limited in reducing the risks of a violent landing, paraglider has a dynamic flight, where the pilot can control its direction and its descent - in favorable circumstances of ascending air currents, being able to remain flying for longer periods.
 

We are among best places in the world for this practice. Takeoffs are from Bonita Stone ramp, located in Tijuca Forest National Park, at a height of 500m. You will fly over Tijuca Forest and the sea, landing on Pepino Beach sands,  in São Conrado.
 

Flights last from 8 to 10 minutes. For double flight, no experience is required, but Brazilian Free Flight Association requires that the passenger weight does not exceed 140kg.
 

Paragliding history  begins in 1.965 with the sailwing created by Dave Barish. He called jump practice with this sail a slope soaring. In parallel, Domina Jalbert invents a parachute which canopy consists of cells, to generate the airplane wing effect. This parachute with back and intra-dorsum, separated by the cells, was the ancestor of the current parachutes, paragliding and kites (kitesurfing sails).
 

In the flight, it is necessary to make use of the following equipment: reserve parachute, sunglasses, helmets and flight boots.

A LITTLE OF PARAGLIDING HISTORY

Paragliding is a free flight mode, a little bit different from asa-delta. Derived from the parachute, paraglider wing is inflatable and has not rigid structure.
 

Its history originates in the USA, in 1.965, when American David Barish, aerodynamic engineer and parachutist, was commissioned to make a parachute for NASA's Apollo project.
 

This prototype was called Velasa. Since then, the aircraft evolved into the current paraglider as we know it!

HOW TO SCHEDULE YOUR PARAGLIDING DOUBLE FLIGHT IN RIO DE JANEIRO

We have daily departures to Paragliding double flight and you can choose the best date for you.
 

To schedule, click on "RESERVE" button and fill in the short form.
 

After completing, you will be directed to payment page and must pay the amount of R$100,00 per person (our reservation fee is 20% of the amount charged on the tour – per person).
 

Please read and agree to our terms and conditions, then click SUBMIT. Reservation must be paid by credit card (PayPal) or by account deposit (only for people who have a Brazilian account). The rest of the amount must be paid in cash, directly to the responsible guide at the tour beginning. We usually need at least 48 hours notice to schedule this tour. If the chosen date does not appear on our reservation calendar, send us an email requesting availability. If you wish to pay full amount in advance, we can send you an invoice via PayPal. Payment must be made no later than 72 hours before the tour date.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Is there a room to leave bags and backpacks?
Yes, your belongings will remain in the pilot's car during the flight.

Is it possible to pay the rest with credit card on the flight time? 
It's not possible.
 

What happens if the day is not good for flying? 
You will be informed the night before or on the morning of the flight and may reschedule or receive your reservation back. We recommend scheduling for the first day of your trip, because if weather conditions do not allow you to fligh, you will still have time to make the flight.

What is the minimum age to fly?
16 years. However, young people of 16 or 17 years old must be accompanied by the responsible.
 

What is the weight limit?? 
Up to 140Kg (308 lbs).
 

Can I take a Go Pro Camera?
Yes, it must be attached to you somehow.
 

Do you offer transfer service? 
Yes.

Pre flight recommendations:
Wind conditions should always be checked before scheduling confirmation. It takes at least 40 minutes to get there from Copacabana. Carry a valid ID, because by signing the terms and conditions in São Conrado Free Flight Club, no copies will be accepted.
