ABOUT OUR SCHOONER TOUR IN BÚZIOS

Schooner is a type of sailboat characterized by the use of front and back sails on two or more masts. What distinguishes them is that the rear mast is larger and taller than the others. Such ships were first used by the Dutch people in the 16th or 17th century (the name derives from the Dutch Schoener). They were developed in North America from the early 18th century, and came into extensive use in New England. The most common type, with two masts, was popular in trades that require windward speed and capacity, such as slaving, buccaneer, blockade running, and offshore fishing. In Chesapeake Bay area, several distinctive types of schooner evolved, including the Baltimore clipper, the bugeye, and the pungy. Schooners were also popular among pirates in the West Indies during piracy golden age, for their speed and agility. They could also sail in shallow waters and, although being considerably smaller than other ships of that time (such as frigates and galleons), they could still keep enough guns to intimidate merchant ships into submission.

Our Tour in Búzios will last for a full day, with excursion. Departure will happen between 05:30 a.m. and 06:00 a.m. and arrival is scheduled for 09:00 a.m. We will board the schooner, which will pass through 12 beaches and have 3 stops.

At 12 noon, we recommend having lunch at the traditional Buzin Restaurant, which is a culinary reference in the area and is famous for allowing visitors to see what they will eat before being served. The restaurant, after winning fame and awards in  Niterói city - RJ, where it has two subsidiaries always very disputed, settled in Búzios, near Pedras Street. Its buffet has international standard, it's impeccably clean and presents hot and cold, national and foreign dishes. In here, you will find typical foods from different regions of Brazil and the world. After lunch, we will take a walk along Pedras Street, stop at a beach and we will return at 4:00 p.m.
